![]() ![]() Much of this causes people to speculate through an unconfirmed rumour that they're taking the time to add Denuvo DRM to the game last second. The fact that this delay is only happening to the PC and not the other consoles greatly upsets people playing on the PC platform because people are seeing it as an injustice that the other consoles get to play it a whole two weeks before them, and there is a lack of clear reasoning from SEGA as to why a game primarily devoloped on PC would hit PC last, and what issue could possibly cause it to get pushed two weeks at the last second. I am inclined to agree with this to an extent because of people taking it to the extreme, and the basic idea of why the delay is happening, but at the same time, there is still valid cause for annoyance due to other factors that tie into this. Some are going to argue this is the same thing, and people should calm down and stop acting like children because of it. This was met with resounding praise because it shows SEGA is learning from their past mistakes in regard to releasing unfinished products. Above all, we do not need to call for a boycott on Sonic Mania and SEGA as a whole over this. We don't need people yelling at each other for their perspective on the situation or how inconvenienced they feel. ![]() ![]() That doesn't help much and really only digs the Sonic community further down the hole it's already been in. We don't need people contacting SEGA, Aaron Webber, or anyone else involved to rage at them. I will admit that on initially hearing this news, I was pretty salty, but I quickly got over it. Some people are acting a lot less civil than needed, though. I'm not here to engage in an argument on whether the anger is justified or if everyone is being ungrateful brats. The delay is at a time where the internet is full of spoilers for the game due to the recent leaking debacle, and is considered to be in terrible timing those hoping to have a full blind experience are struggling to avoid spoilers for what is deemed an unnecessarily long time. SEGA offered a compensation of Sonic 1 on Steam, though this is considered by some to be an inadequate compensation. SEGA delayed Sonic Mania only four days before it was set to release. SEGA delayed Sonic Mania on only one platform. Let's take a look at why people are upset. We’ve updated the story above to reflect Flick and Bridges’ relationship. So with the PC version of Sonic Mania, many people are quite angry, and I've noticed a lot of rage comments and arguments overall pertaining to this. It’s a nice conclusion to an event that still lingers in fans’ memories. “Hunter ended up becoming a project manager for Sonic Mania last year, and he worked closely with Brad to hide that easter egg in the game!” “In fact, Hunter Bridges and Brad Flick are great friends,” according to Aaron Webber, Sonic’s social media manager. Update: A rep for Sonic the Hedgehog gave Polygon some back story on Sonic Mania’s direct connection to the birthday livestream. Take a look at the bottom, and you’ll see the numbers “072216” - or July 22, 2016, the date of Sonic’s 25th birthday party.īig ups to Sega for packing in such a goofy reference into Sonic Mania, which is out on consoles now. In addition to that awful sound, there’s a sly reference to the birthday party on the test pattern in the background. Flick also tagged Hunter Bridges, the production engineer who publicly apologized the the event’s failings last summer. “You’re welcome, Sonic fans,” Flick wrote on Twitter in response to UnknownKongYT, the user who pointed out that the sound resembled the livestream’s painful buzzing. If you listen very closely you can hear the fucking buzzing from the sonic 25th anniversary stream.
